Grand Teton Vacation

Whew! What a wonderful and fun week! We are just getting back from taking my parents to Salt Lake to catch their flight in the morning, but before some much needed rest I wanted to share a few pictures.

A few weeks ago, we purchased a fifth wheel (pictured above) and we took our first camping trip with my parents.  They rented an RV in Salt Lake City.  We traveled the short distance (less than 200 miles) to The Grand Teton National Park to stay 4 nights in our new camper and we all had a BLAST.  We started out early this past Sunday morning and stopped to enjoy different sights along the way.  At one of the scenic viewpoints we ventured down near the stream and found a cave someone had used for a fire.  The kids (actually all of us) were fascinated so we took some pictures inside.  In the one below if you look off the right you can see the river (I call it a stream because it just does not compare to the MS river!)

 

After this short stop and a few others we drove through Jackson Hole, WY to enter the Grand Teton National Park. One interesting sight we passed was the National Elk Refuge outside of Jackson, which has grown tremendously over the years. After making camp we went back to Jackson Hole to enjoy the afternoon/evening.

Jackson Hole had an art district and the kids loved posing with all the various statues !

And of course you a picture under the arches made of Elk Antlers is a must in Jackson Hole! If you look closely you will see that Marc is giving Kayla "moose" horns

After our trip into Jackson Hole we ventured back to our campground.  The wildlife were absolutely amazing throughout the park.  During our trip we saw: elk, moose, bison, antelope, mule deer, a coyote (Marc swears it was a wolf), and numerous birds including a bald eagle! The only missing animal was a bear- from a LARGE distance that is!   At night the kids enjoyed making smores and they young girl at the adjacent campsite began coming over every night to enjoy them too! The picture below was taken around 8:30pm but you would never know that considering the amount of daylight. We have very long days here since we are further north (I will skip the geography lesson) and it drove my dad crazy! We all laughed...you get used to it and don't even realize it anymore.
